Businesses that register as legal entities are required by law in all 50 states to have a registered agent, resident agent, or statutory agent. A Nevada registered agent is the designated recipient of service of process (SOP) when a business entity faces legal action, and receives official legal documents from the state regarding the company's operation within Nevada. “1. Every corporation must have a registered agent who resides or is located in this State. Notwithstanding the provisions of NRS 77.300, each registered agent must have a street address for receiving service of process, which is the registered office of the corporation in this State. If the registered agent is in the business of acting as a registered agent for more than one business entity, the physical street address of the registered office must be in a location for which such use is not prohibited by any local ordinance. The registered agent may have a separate mailing address such as a post office box, which may be different from the street address.”
